Gear-Source, Inc. was brought to life in October of 2002 by lighting industry vet, Marcel Fairbairn. Prior to founding GearSource.com, Marcel served as a Director for Martin Professional's US office for 7 years and also held VP roles with 2 other major Automated Lighting manufacturers. He has been in the Automated lighting world almost since it's inception and is widely known as an innovator and someone you can certainly trust with your business!

For the past 7 years, GearSource.com has sold more (predominantly) used product in professional Stage Lighting, Pro Audio, Video and Staging than anyone. A large majority of the company's customers are "dealers" including production / rental companies and resellers who typically buy at slightly lower prices than end-users. At the same time, we value and cherish all of our End User clients and always do our best to improve their buying experience as well.

In creating GearSource.com, the company made a promise to "clean up" the process of re-marketing used Production gear and has done exactly that in becoming the "eBay of the Production world". In our earliest years, several other Websites existed to market used gear, but none offered e-commerce, proper warranties, dealer discounts nor other programs our company has since developed.

Meet Our Team:

Marcel Fairbairn: President / CEO

Marcel has spent more than 20 years in the Sound and Lighting markets. He started in 1985 selling A/V installations in Alberta, Canada. In 1991, he moved to Florida and took on sales for Martin (lighting) US distributor, Tracoman. This proved to be a moment that changed the future for Marcel, Martin and likely the industry as a whole. Marcel continues to be the visionary behind GearSource and is actively involved in Sales, Marketing, Web Planning and overall company direction.

Henry Kones: Vice President of Business Development

Henry has spent 30 years in the Sound and Lighting business.  From High School through to 1994, Henry worked with his father in their Miami-based family owned business, Mr. Hank Inc. In 1995 Henry joined automated lighting manufacturer High End Systems, departing in 2002 to partner with Marcel in Rental-Source.com.  Henry also joined Gear-Source as VP of Business Development responsible for managing larger corporate accounts, assisting with Sales, Marketing, and web planning as well as sourcing new vendors to the Gear Source website.

Cynthia Viteri: Sales Director

Cynthia spent 7 years with our company President in two other companies. First, as a Regional Sales Manager for Latin America at Martin Professional, then at Tracoman / Coemar USA again serving the Latin American markets. Cynthia is a proven performer when it comes to production sales, and will always go the extra mile for our clients.

Claudette Cyr: Marketing Director

Claudette spent over 25 years in graphic services, marketing & public relations, including 15 years as owner of a graphic services business in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  After selling the business in 2002, Claudette continued to provide her experience and expertise as a consultant in website project management and Search Engine Optimization. Having worked on various Gear-Source projects from day one, Claudette "officially" joined the company as Director of Marketing in February 2008 and is responsible for the marketing, web project management and advertising.

Betsy Torres: CFO

Betsy has handled the finances for private corporations for over 28 years, including working for three separate divisions of the pharmaceutical giant Baxter Healthcare. Her and Marcel first met when they worked together for Tracoman back in 1994. They reunited again in 1999 for a couple of years and finally in August, 2008 Betsy joined Marcel as the CFO/COO for Gear-Source. She currently handles all the finances and daily operations for the business.

Joanne Rojas: Accounting

Joanne has spent the last 20 years in customer service and accounting. She started her career in the UK, before joining the Cruise Ship industry where she spent 12 years traveling the world. Joanne joined the Gear Source team in February 2009 and loves the exciting day to day operation of working for a fast paced, growing industry.

Alex Sante: Director of Web Development

Alex has been with GearSource for almost three years now. He started as a programmer, and quickly rose to take over our Web Development team with his creative thinking, and forward looking ideas. Most recently, GS 4.0 has given Alex a springboard to continue proving his talents in web development, systems integration, and general problem solving. He's also a pretty darned good football player!
