Gear-Source, Inc. was brought to life in October of 2002 by lighting industry vet, Marcel Fairbairn. Prior to founding GearSource.com®, Marcel served as a Director for Martin Professional's US office for 7 years and also held VP roles with 2 other major Automated Lighting manufacturers. He has been in the Automated lighting world almost since it's inception and is widely known as an innovator and someone you can certainly trust with your business!

GearSource.com® has always sold more (predominantly) used product in professional Stage Lighting, Pro Audio, Video and Staging than anyone. A large majority of the company's customers are "dealers" including production / rental companies and resellers who typically buy at slightly lower prices than end-users. At the same time, we value and cherish all of our End User clients and always do our best to improve their buying experience as well.

In creating GearSource.com®, the company made a promise to "clean up" the process of re-marketing used Production gear and has done exactly that in becoming the "eBay of the Production world". In our earliest years, several other Websites existed to market used gear, but none offered full service with e-commerce, manage your own listings, escrow style purchasing, complete product category selection nor other programs our company has since developed. A European office was opened in 2006 to further develop our presence worldwide.

Meet Our Team:

Marcel Fairbairn : President / CEO

Marcel has spent more than 30 years in the Sound and Lighting markets. He started in 1985 selling A/V installations in Alberta, Canada. In 1991, he moved to Florida and took on sales for the Martin (lighting) US distributor, Tracoman. This proved to be a moment that changed the future for Marcel, Martin, and likely the industry as a whole. Marcel continues to be the visionary behind GearSource and is actively involved in Sales, Marketing, Web Planning and overall company direction.

Sales:

Henry: Vice President of Business Development

Henry Kones has over 30 years experience in the Sound and Lighting business.  From High School through to 1994, Henry worked with his father in their Miami-based family owned business, Mr. Hank Inc. In 1995 Henry joined automated lighting manufacturer High End Systems. In 2003 Henry joined Gear-Source as VP of Business Development responsible for managing larger corporate accounts, assisting with Sales, Marketing, and planning, as well as sourcing new vendors to GearSource.com®.

Cynthia: Sales Director

Cynthia Viteri spent 7 years with Marcel at two other companies, first, as a Regional Sales Manager for Latin America at Martin Professional, then at Tracoman / Coemar USA serving the Latin American markets. Cynthia graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor of Science in International  Business and from Nova Southeastern University with a Masters of International Business Administration. She is a proven performer when it comes to production sales, and has always gone the extra mile for GearSource clients.

Steve : US Sales

After attending college at Northeastern University, Steve Smith entered the music industry first as a musician and then as a road manager with both local and touring acts. Falling back on his degrees in International Business and Finance, he had a successful 17 year career in the mortgage industry, working for industry giant First Franklin Financial amongst others. After the collapse of the industry in 2008, Steve took a few years to find a job that was the "right fit". He made a stop at Solaris in 2010 and then joined Gear-Source as a Director of Business Development. Steve, through his global contacts in the industry, is able to help obtain new inventory for GearSource to both list and sell. He has clients on most continents that rely on his knowledge and personal service to help fulfill their needs.

Rob : MI Sales

Robert Brown (also known as Robbie) has been selling musical instruments in various capacities since 1976, from owning retail outlets to being national sales manager of a large acoustic guitar manufacturer. He has traveled extensively in USA, Canada and Europe and brings years of experience to the table. In July 2015, Robbie joined the GearSource team to open the Musical Instrument division on GearSource.com®. His dedication to product knowledge and cutting edge technology, along with his deep appreciation of his clients needs, will only help expedite GearSource’s natural progression into this exciting area of expertise. As an Industry leader, it will be the number one place to shop and sell your musical gear.

Rebecca : Marketing Director

Rebecca Jennings has more than 25 years of sales and marketing experience. She received a degree in advertising but moved over to the marketing side of the industry. Rebecca is an integrated cross-channel marketer who loves experiencing and exploring new technologies. With GearSource, her passions collided - sound, production and...marketing. Rebecca joined the GearSource team in December 2015

Operations

Claudette : Systems & Development Manager

Claudette joined GearSource in its very early stages in 2002, working side-by-side with Marcel to spec out, design and manage the development of the initial GearSource.com® website infrastructure, and has managed all subsequent versions since. She spent many years running her own graphic services business in Calgary, Canada before selling it and joining Marcel at GearSource. Claudette continues to be an integral member of our senior management team and is dedicated to achieving success in all aspects of the business.

Len : Operations Manager

Len Brooks is responsible for managing the order processing, logistics, and customer service areas at Gear-Source, Inc. and works closely with all departments to help achieve the company's overall objectives.  Len joined our team in 2014 and has over 20 years of IT and management experience with Wall Street firms and Fortune 500 companies such as Kidder-Peabody, CIGNA, Price Waterhouse, and GlaxoSmithKline.

Tom : Software Architect / Engineer

Tom deManincor has been developing software for 18 years on just about any and every platform with a specialty in Enterprise Web Applications. For the past 10 years, he has also taken on the roles of Consultant, Trainer, and Manager. He has provided these services in both the U.S. and overseas. Tom is also an entrepreneur and has founded and operated several businesses of his own. Tom came on board in 2010 to help stabilize and evolve the GearSource web infrastructure.

Barbara : Administration and Event Coordinator

Barbara Fairbairn joined GearSource in 2002 to provide administrative support in customer service, office management, accounting and event coordination. Barbara works alongside the CEO and founder of GearSource to coordinate strategy development and implementation. Barbara has extensive experience in the fields of administration, secretarial work and event management.

Joanne : Accounting

Originally from the UK, Joanne Rojas has called the US home for the last 15 years. She joined GearSource in 2008, after a 14-year career with the cruise lines. As Accounting Manager, Joanne takes great care of the day to day accounting operations, A/P and A/R.  

Carrie : Listings Integrity

Carrie Bourgette's primary role at GearSource.com® is maintaining and growing the vast listings database that makes up the core of our business. Her main focus each day is to review and approve listings, work with our Vendors to get their listings activated, and integrating the large lists of gear we receive. She had 20 years experience in the field of layout and design before joining GearSource in 2008.

Lisa : Shipping

Lisa Straus joined our team in 2015 after working for the past five years for a large e-commerce company. Lisa handles the daily processing of orders as well as customer service. In addition to her daily responsibilities, Lisa works closely with the Operations Manager on special projects and other tasks. Lisa’s personality makes her an asset in the customer service area.
